Dr. Divya Chawla
Dr. Chawla was born and raised in Michigan. She received her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and then completed medical school and internal medicine residency at Michigan State University. She subsequently did her nephrology fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. In addition to her nephrology fellowship, Dr. Chawla also successfully finished a kidney transplant fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Prior to joining NCG, Dr. Chawla was an assistant professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin where she had a major role in the kidney transplant department and was responsible for the care of many patients with kidney transplants. During her time there she served various roles, both pre and post transplant, and was on several hospital committees. In particular, she developed interests performing pre-transplant evaluations and in the area of combined liver and kidney transplant. She was also actively engaged in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Chawla relocated to Atlanta with her husband who is a cardiologist in Atlanta. She is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. She is also a member of the American Society of Nephrology and American Society of Transplantation. Her areas of expertise include hypertension, diabetic kidney disease, and renal transplantation. In her free time Dr. Chawla enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, watching documentaries, and also cheering on the Michigan Wolverines.
